A de-addiction programme was organised at.St.Karens Secondary School Khagaul Patna on the 6th and 7th of May 2019. for the students of classes 9th and 10th, The topics that were dealt by the Resource Person Fr.Gregory Gomes SJ. were 1. What is Addiction?.2.Alcoholism as a disease 3.Harmful Effects of Alcohol on the body.4. Other drug addiction that are prevalent in India. 5, Harmful Effects of drugs on the body 6. Denial in addiction 7. Relapse in addiction and Alcoholic Anonymous as part of Recovery.
The important aspect that was stressed by the Resource person was the empathetic attitude one must have towards the addict. Also the Physical and Psychological dependence of addiction were highlighted.
Videos, power points presentation and interactive sessions helped the students to be sufficiently motivated to respond to this great challenge of addiction.
