Description: St. Karen's Secondary School's Eco Club celebrated Van Mahotsav on 18 July in collaboration with Taru Mitra. The event was graced by the presence of Ms. Devopriya Dutta, a renowned environmentalist, who delivered a speech on the significance of trees in our lives. Emphasizing the mantra of "reduce, reuse, and recycle," she highlighted the detrimental effects of plastic on our environment and health. During the event, students showcased their talents through a captivating dance drama and recited thought-provoking poetry, all centered around the theme of environmental conservation. To actively contribute to greener surroundings, they also prepared seed bombs, which are small balls of clay and seeds that can be dispersed to promote reforestation. Furthermore, the students exhibited their knowledge by presenting various medicinal plants and explaining their uses to the audience. As a symbol of their commitment to nurturing nature, a Shammi plant brought by Ms. Devopriya Dutta was ceremoniously planted. The program received high praise from the school's principal, who commended the Eco Club's efforts. In her address, she elucidated the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance and encouraged everyone to contribute to preserving our planet's green cover.
